Reasonable rejectability

The standard that a principle is unacceptable if someone could reasonably refuse to live under it.

What it commits you to

Scanlon's test asks whether a principle could be reasonably rejected by someone whose interests it affects, judging rejection in the light of what that person can recognise. It grounds obligation in reasons offered to each person rather than in a chooser maximising an objective. It is the most directly usable of the contractualist criteria for questions about who must be consulted.

Which realms lean on this

Philosophy carries the arguments the other four kinds are downstream of — what an agent is, what a person owes, what a rule is for.
